Outreach

Why most cold outreach gets ignored

5 min read

Most cold messages get deleted in about two seconds. Not because the product is bad, and not because outreach does not work. It is because the message gives the reader nothing to hold onto. It is about the sender, it sounds automated, and it asks for too much.

The fix is not a clever subject line. It is four small shifts.

1. Make it about them, in the first line

The opening line decides whether the rest gets read. If it starts with who you are and what you sell, you have lost. If it starts with something specific and true about them, you have earned three more seconds.

2. Speak to a real problem

People do not buy features. They buy the end of a problem. Name the exact frustration your reader feels, in their words, and they will assume you understand their world. Talk in generic benefits, and they will assume you are talking to everyone.

3. Sound like a peer, not a vendor

The best outreach reads like a note from someone in the same trade. Short sentences. Plain words. No buzzwords. One early broker told us the first message we sent on their behalf was the only cold outreach they had ever seen that sounded like a peer, not a pitch. That is the bar worth aiming for.

4. Ask for something small

A first message asking for a signed contract gets nothing. A first message asking for fifteen minutes gets a reply. Lower the cost of saying yes, and more people will.

Doing this at scale

Here is the catch: doing all four, for every single lead, by hand, does not scale past about ten messages a week. That is exactly the problem Crystallux solves. It researches each person, writes a message that hits all four marks in their voice, and sends it, so every lead gets the kind of note that earns a reply, not the kind that gets deleted.
